THE COURSE

Our residential courses run for five days and six nights. They are designed for all levels of ability, from the experienced potter to the complete beginner, and have one object in mind – to inspire your creativity by learning about and working with the wonderful medium of clay.

The classes are every morning between 10am and 1pm and in the afternoon (except one free afternoon and one afternoon's organised outing) from 2 - 5pm. They cover all the essential skills in hand building, press-moulding and slab building, together with an introduction to throwing and glazing.

Occasionally we also hold special glazing and firing courses, designed for those who have already participated on the pottery course and for those with some experience of pottery. These cover all the essentials of glazing and firing, including traditional methods such as raku and pit firing.

THE STUDIO

We use a wide range of high quality materials, including porcelain and paper clays. And the small size of the groups – six to eight people – enables the sessions to be individually tailored to personal interests and skills.

We aim to fill the large gas-fired kiln on the last day of the course. You will select up to 3 pieces to be fired and glazed and then delivered to you later (postal charges apply). Any additional pieces fired and glazed will be charged at £10 per kg per firing.

"Expert, personal tuition to suit your ability and interest."
