THE PENWITH PENINSULA
Penwith is the most westerly and dramatic part of Cornwall. It has attracted and inspired many of Britain's most famous artists and ceramicists over the last century and more, from Bernard Leach to Ben Nicholson. Most recently it was the setting of the TV series Poldark.
The local landscape is renowned for its towering coastal cliffs and secluded coves, as well as the rugged moors and rocky tors that cover the narrow peninsula.
EXCURSIONS
A number of well known Neolithic and Iron Age sites - including the Nine Maidens stone circle, Chysauster and Bodrifty iron age villages and Lanyon Quoit - are close to the house. The area is rich in bird and marine life, and it is easy to spot seals from the nearby north coast footpath - one of the most dramtic walks in the UK.
Included in the cost of the residential course are two local excursions, for sketchbook work or just relaxation and sightseeing, depending on interest. Primrose Cottage is close to both south and north coasts which offer superb walks - including many directly from the house.
